GET SMART ABOUT STRESS . . .
 . . . with the Alexander Technique.

THE PROBLEM

Many people working in today's high stress work environment feel pain, fatigue or muscular tension at the end of a work day, accepting these familiar symptoms as a matter of course. But they are signals of poor posture and lack of body awareness. While ergonomics can improve the work station-chair design, monitor and keyboard placement-it does not address the way people sit, stand, bend forward at their desks or use a mouse. Under the expert guidance of Hope Gillerman-board-certified Alexander Technique instructor, and stress management expert-your employees can learn how to heed these signals and work at the computer with ease and comfort.

THE SOLUTION

The Alexander Technique is a proven, effective way to improve posture and solve the common movement problems that cause muscle tension, pain and decreased functioning. Hope Gillerman has designed an on-site seminar based on the Alexander Technique's unique mode of self-management to teach employees an intelligent way to handle stress at the workplace. The seminar covers self-care and relaxations techniques, and includes the following:

  • Employees learn how to arrange the work station for greater comfort.
  • They learn back care basics at the computer to prevent back problems from developing or escalating.
  • They learn how to prevent repetitive strain injuries before their functioning is impaired.
  • They pick up practical ways to have more energy during the day and sleep better at night.
  • For those already suffering from chronic pain and loss of mobility, they learn an excellent way to begin the healing process and follow up on their own.

THE SEMINAR

Stress Management in the Workplace

A two-hour, on-site experiential seminar. Covers the basics of everyday back care, stress reduction and computer work without pain. Costing the equivalent of one ergonomically designed chair, this seminar will give your employees a unique education for health and productivity. Recommended class size is 15 people. Can be adapted for larger groups if necessary.
